Stephen was born at Tinker AFB, Midwest City, Oklahoma and has resided in the Oklahoma City area ever since. Stephen's early childhood was distorted by sexual abuse and family dysfunction; as a result Stephen spent his teenage years until just after his 22nd birthday in a gay identity. It was in 1983 when Stephen surrender his life to Jesus Christ, and has lived his life in pursuit of Christ's desires.

Stephen has been married since May 25, 1986 to his precious wife Robin Dawn. They have three children: Mandy -born 1981, John -born 1988, and Charity -born 1990. They are also blessed with one granddaughter, Michayla born in 2003. They all reside outside of Oklahoma City with three dogs and two cats on a couple of acres.

Stephen has been ministering since 1984 to those desiring to be free from homosexuality and other forms of sexual brokenness in a part-time capacity, and then enter into full-time pastoral care and discipleship in 1993 with First Stone Ministries as an ordained minister. Stephen became the Executive Director with First Stone in 2000 and has been ordained with International Ministerial Fellowship since 1993. Stephen enjoys pastoral care, teaching, writing, public speaking and generally making a difference in the community. He loves his family, serving people and above Stephen is in love with Jesus Christ!
